HERE’S the brother of Gerry Hutch taking a stroll in Dublin — just 24 hours after The Monk was cleared of David Byrne’s murder.
Carefree Patsy Hutch enjoyed a walk in his native north inner city after the Special Criminal Court concluded that there was a “reasonable possibility” he had planned the Regency attack.

It’s one of the few times he has been seen in public since The Irish Sun photographed him with his son Derek ‘Del Boy’ Hutch at the family home in August 2021.
And it comes after the court heard that Patsy — whose son Gary was shot dead by the Kinahan cartel in Spain in September 2015 — had been involved in handing over AK-47 assault rifles to dissident republican Shane Rowan after Byrne’s killing.
One local told The Irish Sun: “There doesn’t seem to be any bother with Patsy and he’s often out and about on his own.
“No one knows if he still wears a bulletproof vest but he doesn’t seem to have a care in the world.
“He doesn’t venture too far from the north inner city because he knows it’s the safest place for him to be.
“Everyone is talking about him being mentioned with reference to the Regency but this hasn’t seemed to have bothered him at all.”
Delivering the SCC’s four-hour judgment on Monday, Ms Justice Tara Burns said they were satisfied members of the Hutch family carried out the attack on the Regency and shot dead drug dealer Byrne.
She added: “In fact, a reasonable possibility arises on the evidence that the Regency was planned by Patsy Hutch and that Gerard Hutch stepped in, as head of the family, to attempt to sort out the aftermath of the Regency, particularly as his own life was at risk.”
And Ms Justice Burns pointed out that The Monk declared “it was not his fight” after Gary was whacked outside an apartment in Marbella.
Although Patsy was spotted in the north inner city after the explosive not guilty verdict, there has been no sightings of The Monk.
It’s unclear if he has chosen to remain in Ireland or has slipped out of the country.
If Hutch does remain in Ireland, Gardai will be on high alert amid fears Daniel Kinahan’s gang could recruit someone to kill him.
FAMILY VISIT
It’s understood he personally called to a relative’s home in Portland Row after he walked free from the court.
And gardai believe a party was held for him at the home of his nephew Jonathan Hutch— who has survived two attempts on his life by the Kinahan cartel.
One resident told us: “There were people coming and going at the house and there was a lot of noise.
“No one seems to know if Gerry was there but there was definitely some kind of party.
“The talk in the north inner city is that Gerry was on foot when he met with his relatives and just wanted to thank them for their support.
“He wanted to meet his family and by all accounts they had a right good celebration.”
During the bash, there was a Garda presence outside the property.
And The Irish Sun understands punters in three different pubs in Dublin’s north inner city raised their glasses to The Monk.
One long-term resident of the north inner city told us: “There were a number of people who raised their glasses and said ‘here’s to Gerry Hutch’. Other people in the bar also joined in by saying fair play to Gerry.
‘NEVER FORGOTTEN’
“There are a lot of people in this community who have a lot of time for Gerry Hutch.
“They hate the Kinahan group because of what they did and this will never be forgotten.”
Following the verdict on Monday, there were also posts on social media in support of the veteran criminal. One of his relatives said it was “the best news” while another pal said “anyone for Lanzarote”.
Other extended family members also told how it was “great news” that he walked free from court.
Another celebrated Hutch’s release, saying: “YUP the flats. GOWAN Gerry. Knew you’d walk. You’re a free man, f***ing genius, my hero. Neddy, Gareth and Gary all be beaming down with pride. Ye done them all so proud.”
VERDICT REACTION
And we also understand Kinahan cartel members in Mountjoy Prison were left furious after the verdict.
A number of inmates shouted “what a joke” after the verdict was made known in the D Wing.
One prison source said: “They were all mouthing off and weren’t happy with the verdict. There were also a few conspiracy theorists in there who believed the verdict was a result of collusion between the Gardai and Gerry Hutch.
“There was always going to be some kind of reaction in the jail but they all know there’s nothing they can do about it.”
The Monk’s brother — who has a permanent Garda presence outside his home — has not faced any charges over the Regency attack.
Although Gerry left Ireland after the killing of Byrne, he decided to remain in Ireland.
He has opted to stay despite the Kinahan cartel trying to kill him on two occasions.
On the first occasion, the group planned to whack him as he prayed at the graveside of his son. But the plot was abandoned when cops swamped the area.
On the second occasion in March 2018, officers intercepted a hit team as they were on their way to kill him.
At present, investigations into the Kinahan cartel and the Hutch Organised Crime Group are ongoing in different Garda units.
It’s hoped that charges could be brought against members of both gangs for participating in organised crime and facilitating organised crime.
